Avatar is a science fiction movie.
It takes place on a far away planet called Pandora.
The planet is full of rich forests, teeming with wildlife, and abundant in natural resources.
In a single word, utopia.
It is also populated by an indigenous race called the Navi.
They are blue skinned, tall, peace loving and extremely respectful of their environment.
Humans have come to Pandora to mine a very rare and precious metal.
They are willing to do whatever it takes to carry on profitable business regardless of the consequences.
In order to gain the Navi’s trust, humans have created avatars, a hybrid creature designed specifically for its human operator.
The main character, Jack Sully, is a physically disabled veteran.
In a twist of fate, he replaces his twin brother in the Avatar Project and gets a second chance at life.
His original orders were to infiltrate the Navi and persuade them to move their village so the mining company can extract the mineral ore.
However, the Avatar Project is run by civilian anthropologists who want to learn about this amazing civilization.
Already a conflict of loyalties begins for Jack.
As the days pass, Jack understands more and more of the Navi’s customs.
He starts to question his own understanding of life.
Jack eventually becomes a member of the tribe and falls in love with his Navi teacher.
After the deadline the mining company uses military force to destroy the Navi village.
When war finally breaks out between the humans and the Navi, Jack has to choose his side.
After his life changing experience with the Navi, which side will he choose?
